How to Build the Perfect Team in Dragon Ball Legends

In Dragon Ball Legends PvP, the strongest single fighter regularly loses to the better team. Three things decide whether six characters become a real team: aligned Z-Abilities, covered roles and matching equipment. This guide walks through all three.

Six fighters, one plan

A team always has six slots: three fighters battle, three sit on the bench. The bench is not decoration – every character contributes their Z-Ability to the whole team, whether they fight or not. That's why the last three slots are picked for their Z-Ability boosts, not their combat strength.

Z-Abilities: build around one tag

Z-Abilities boost stats for specific tags – for example "Son Family", "Fusion Warrior" or "Regeneration". The rule of thumb: pick one main tag and make sure all six characters boost it and benefit from it. A team where every Z-Ability hits every fighter easily gains double-digit percentages in attack and defense compared to a wild mix of strong individual units.

Cover the three roles

A solid core needs three jobs done: a damage dealer who ends matches, a defensive fighter you can safely switch to under pressure, and a support that heals or buffs. Two damage dealers plus one defender also works – but without any defensive option, one bad exchange loses the match.

Equipment: three slots, one rule

Every fighter has three equipment slots. The simple rule: match the main stat. Strike attackers get strike-attack equips, blast attackers get blast equips, defenders get health and defense. Tag-restricted equipment (e.g. "Fusion Warrior only") rolls higher values than generic pieces – another reason to build around one tag.
